Individual families. Common ground.

About Zynoco

Zynoco is a multi-family office with a community-minded outlook. From Boston, we work with families who see a connection between their own prosperity and the opportunities available to others.

Our remit accommodates a range of financial interests. Within that work, we give particular attention to the contribution private capital can make to the places people share.

The Relationship

Compatibility comes first.

Choosing a family office is a consequential decision. It creates a setting in which financial interests and deeply held personal convictions will be discussed. We believe that relationship deserves careful consideration on both sides.

Zynoco considers prospective clients individually. A shared interest in community progress provides a basis for working together, with room for different perspectives on where a contribution can be most useful.

That room for difference is important. Families can share a sense of responsibility while choosing separate causes and different forms of involvement. We respect the independence of those choices within the office.

The Office’s Remit

Room for a range of ambitions.

A family’s interests can encompass opportunities with very different purposes. A property investment carries financial objectives, while charitable giving addresses a particular community need. Each deserves attention on its own terms.

Real estate and social impact initiatives are areas of involvement within Zynoco’s wider remit. The scope of a relationship follows the family’s objectives, allowing community work to take its place within a broader set of financial decisions.

This breadth also calls for precision about the purpose of each commitment. We regard an investment’s financial expectations and a donation’s intended benefit as distinct considerations. Both deserve an honest account of what the family hopes to accomplish.

Our Commitments

Discretion as a condition of trust.

Families should have a choice about the public attention attached to their activities. Zynoco respects that choice, including a preference to contribute anonymously.

We regard discretion as part of our responsibility to clients. The significance of a contribution comes from the work it supports; recognition remains a personal decision. This principle informs how the office speaks about its relationships and the projects associated with them.

Usefulness to the community.

A community project should have a purpose that can be understood in practical terms. Who is it intended to help, and what will it make possible for them?

These questions express the standard we believe such work should meet. The priorities of local people deserve attention in decisions that affect their lives. A family’s intention provides a starting point; the usefulness of their contribution depends on the need it addresses.

Respect for the people involved.

We believe community support should recognize the agency of the people it is intended to benefit. Assistance can address an immediate difficulty while creating opportunities for people to make their own choices.

That perspective matters when speaking about households with limited means. Their circumstances deserve accuracy and respect. We want the language around a project to reflect the people involved as participants in community life.

Participation in American life.

Zynoco’s civic outlook rests on a belief that a healthy democracy needs opportunities for people to take part. We are interested in work that encourages cooperation across social and economic differences.

Social cohesion is a practical ambition for the office. It means supporting the conditions in which people can learn together and participate in the life of their communities. We see a constructive role for family capital in that effort.

These commitments establish the outlook of the office.
